Headlight Restoration Kit

The SONAX Headlight Restoration Kit removes yellowing, haze and small scratches, restoring the clarity and brightness of headlights. It contains a polish, a protective sealant, abrasive discs, sponges and cloths for a complete treatment of 2 headlights.

Before you start, wash the car with your preferred SONAX shampoo, dry it and mask off the area around the headlights with masking tape. Very worn headlights, or headlights with deep scratches, cracks or stone chips, may not be restorable.

Step 1: Sanding: Fit the slightly coarser round 3000 abrasive discs to the grey holder supplied, wet them with water and rub the headlight with light pressure until the surface is even and slightly dull. Wet the surface with water repeatedly during this process. Then wipe off the residue with one of the polishing cloths supplied. Repeat the process with the finer 5000 abrasive discs (red adhesive side). This step may not be needed for rear lights. Do not try to remove deep scratches with coarse abrasive paper beforehand. This removes the protective clear coat from the headlights completely, so haze and scratches come back very quickly.

Step 2: Polishing: Apply SONAX headlight polish to the white side of the polishing cloth supplied and polish the headlight surface with moderate pressure until the haze has gone. Add more polish if necessary. At the end of polishing, wipe off the polish residue with a polishing cloth to check the result.

Step 3: Sealing: Open a sachet of Headlight Sealant and apply the liquid to a polishing cloth. Rub the polished, treated surfaces with the moistened cloth. After a short drying time, wipe the surface with a clean, dry polishing cloth. Each sachet is enough for 2 headlights. The headlights must not get wet for the next 2 to 3 hours, and the vehicle must not be washed for the first 2 days after the headlight restoration.
